Olivia Mihet, a Romanian singer-songwriter and pianist, plays private celebrations the same way she approaches every stage: warmly, and with real attention to the people in the room. A christening blessing, a landmark birthday, a family anniversary, these events are smaller in scale than a wedding but no less personal, and that intimacy is exactly what her solo and duo sets are built for. Her background performing with a chamber ensemble and her own songwriting, including her EP Dialog interior, give the music a depth that suits a quiet living-room gathering just as well as a marquee full of guests.

How it works

Private events tend to be more flexible than weddings, and the conversation usually starts with what the day or evening is actually for: a blessing after a christening service, background music through a meal, a surprise entrance, a full evening of dancing. Birthdays and anniversaries usually open with quieter dinner music, piano-led, unobtrusive, before building toward requested songs, a dedication to the guest of honour, or a first proper dance if the celebration calls for one. If the night is meant to end on the dancefloor, a fuller lineup takes over for the last stretch, with the same warmth but more energy.

Repertoire

The repertoire spans jazz and soul standards for the calmer parts of an evening, familiar pop songs that get a room singing, timeless evergreens that suit any generation, and Romanian folk-inspired pieces and evergreens that carry real meaning for Romanian families celebrating abroad. Original songs, sung in Romanian or English, can also be woven in, with other languages available on request.

The client covers flights and accommodation for the booked lineup, and the rest of the day’s details are confirmed together in the proposal.

Choosing the right size

A living-room christening blessing for twenty relatives needs a very different setup from a sixtieth-birthday marquee party with dancing planned for the back half of the night, and part of the early conversation is simply working out which end of that spectrum your celebration sits closer to. Smaller, quieter gatherings almost always suit a solo or duo booking, where the music can stay low and let conversation lead. Bigger parties with a clear moment to dance tend to benefit from a trio or small band for at least part of the evening, so the shift in energy feels natural rather than sudden.
