Olivia Mihet, a Romanian singer-songwriter, pianist and composer, has performed with a live chamber ensemble in a brick-walled concert hall, and that experience shapes how she approaches string and chamber bookings, as a genuine musical collaboration rather than a background accompaniment. She holds a Master’s in composition, which means arrangements for strings are handled with real attention to the music, not just a lead sheet handed to session players.

How it works

String and chamber bookings usually begin with the moment you want strings to carry: a ceremony processional, the signing of a register, a formal reception, or an entire gala set. Our booking team will talk through your venue acoustics, guest numbers and whether you want vocal or purely instrumental arrangements, then propose an ensemble size, from a voice-and-single-string duo up to a fuller chamber lineup, with the final size confirmed at booking. As with every service, pricing depends entirely on the arrangement, so every proposal is tailored rather than fixed.

A processional often calls for something instrumental and unhurried, strings carrying the room as guests take their seats. Signing the register suits an even quieter arrangement, sometimes just voice and a single cello or violin line. Through a formal drinks reception, the ensemble can shift into slightly livelier classical or contemporary arrangements, and for a gala or concert-style event, a fuller chamber sound can anchor an entire evening, with Olivia’s voice woven through selected pieces.

Repertoire

Alongside classical and contemporary arrangements for strings, the repertoire draws on the same wide base as Olivia’s other work: jazz and soul standards arranged for strings, pop and evergreen songs given a chamber treatment, and Romanian folk-inspired pieces and evergreens that carry particular weight for Romanian families and diaspora events. Original compositions can also be arranged for strings, and a couple’s or client’s chosen song can be written into a bespoke string arrangement given enough notice.

Chamber and string bookings often need a little more planning around acoustics, seating and quiet stage placement than a full band would, and our team coordinates directly with venues and planners on these details well ahead of the event so the sound suits the room from the first note.

Pairing strings with other parts of your day

Strings rarely need to cover an entire event on their own, and many clients pair a string or chamber booking for the ceremony and early reception with a duo, trio or full band for later in the evening. Olivia can perform across both halves of that booking herself, or the ensemble can be coordinated alongside additional musicians for the string portion specifically, so the transition between a formal ceremony sound and a livelier evening feels planned rather than patched together.

The ensemble travels for bookings across Romania, Europe, the UK and Ireland and destination celebrations anywhere in the world. The client covers flights and accommodation for the booked musicians, and the arrangement, repertoire and logistics are all confirmed together in the proposal.
