Olivia Mihet is a Romanian singer-songwriter and pianist, and one of her favourite settings is exactly the kind of room a residency needs: exposed stone, warm bulbs, a keyboard tucked into a corner, and a seated crowd more interested in conversation than a show. That direct experience shapes how she thinks about hospitality bookings generally: music that lifts a room without ever taking it over.

How it works

A residency conversation usually starts with your venue’s rhythm: what night or time slot needs live music, how long the sets should run, and what kind of atmosphere you’re going for. What a residency sounds like

Dinner service calls for something unobtrusive: piano-led jazz and soft vocals sitting well below the volume of conversation, with breaks built in so the room can breathe. A hotel lobby or bar residency can afford a touch more presence, especially in the early evening as guests arrive. Brunch sets lean relaxed and mostly instrumental-leaning, the kind of music that makes a weekend morning feel a little more special without asking anyone to stop talking. Across all of these, the goal is consistency: regulars should be able to expect the same warm, dependable sound each time the residency runs.

Repertoire

Residency sets draw heavily on jazz and soul standards and timeless evergreens, since these suit a low-footprint, conversation-friendly setting best. Pop songs are folded in for livelier slots, and Romanian folk-inspired pieces and evergreens make an appearance where a venue’s guests include a Romanian community or diaspora crowd. Requests are welcome within a residency, and Olivia’s own original songs occasionally find their way into a set as well, sung in Romanian or English.

Hotel and restaurant residencies are available internationally, particularly for monthly or seasonal arrangements. Flights and accommodation for the booked lineup are covered by the venue or client and confirmed clearly in the proposal, alongside the schedule and repertoire.
